Barbara Stanny came to Bourn Creative with an existing brand, WordPress website, and blog that represented where she had been, and not where she was going. As an experienced mentor, wealth coach, speaker, and author of six acclaimed financial books, Barbara’s personal brand platform needed an upgrade that matched her enthusiasm and passion to help women create the wealth they desire and the life they deserve.
The first step in our engagement was the redesign of Barbara’s visual brand, including her logo, color palette, typography, brand elements, and brand style guide. The goal was to create something that was fun and professional at the same time — just like Barbara.
Upon brand design competion, we moved on to the design and development of a custom, responsive, HTML5, WordPress website with retina support and schema.org integration, powered by the Genesis Framework. The project included importing, reformatting, and adding feature images to existing blog posts, integrating several Infusionsoft forms and opt-ins, creating a new content strategy for the site to organize and present content in a way that naturally guides visitors to get to know, like, and trust Barbara, and assistance with copywriting.
The back-end of the WordPress site includes the development of a comprehensive custom publishing system that automatically formats all content for the client on the front-end of the website, making it easy and simple for any member of her team to add, edit, and create new content without writing a single line of code — even on pages that use a complex design and layout.
In addition to the default templates, customized blog post template and archive templates, the WordPress theme includes:
- Custom Home page template
- Custom Books & Products page template
- Custom Coaching and Seminars pages template
- Custom Landing page Template
All four custom page builder templates, including the Home page (shown below), leverage stacked sections of content to tell a story. None of the content is hard-coded, meaning all content is editable by the client.
Editing and updating the content is simply a matter of filling in or editing text fields and link fields, or using an image uploader built right into the page — no code is needed. Several elements in the page builders also include drag-and-drop ordering, meaning that at any time the books, products, coaching services, or seminars can be reordered on the page simply by dragging and dropping them into the desired order.
List building and email marketing are a key part of Barbara’s marketing, and as a result, Bourn Creative built in custom options to conditionally show email marketing opt-ins — like a sidebar opt-in, footer opt-in, after post opt-in, or on-page opt-in — throughout the site on a per page or post basis.
