Have you ever wondered, How does he/she do it? How does he get so many clients? How does she show up everywhere?” I’ll bet you have. I have. And I’ll bet that thousands of other business owners have too — Why? Because there are TONS of blog posts, articles, and resources available online to teach you how to get more clients, attract more leads, and make more money.
But A Lot Of It Is Jibberish!
Many articles give you tasks to check off a list and marketing tips to implement — and that’s a problem.
Take this situation for example: Lilly is doing all the right things. She’s taking action to market her business. She has a Facebook page and a Twitter account that she posts to regularly. She blogs at least once a week, she posts articles to article marketing sites, and bookmarks her content with social bookmarking sites. She attends networking events and publishes an email newsletter.
She is working hard, but she isn’t seeing much benefit. She is doing all the right things, but she isn’t getting new clients or even new leads fast enough. She feels like she’s spinning her wheels and she’s frustrated. She sees other people achieve the success she wants for herself and she feels like she deserves it because she’s working harder than they seem to be.
Does Lilly’s situation sound familiar to you?
If it does, that’s okay. Don’t freak out. I’ve been there. Every business owner has been there at one point. Because it’s a natural stage of business growth. You see, you started your business because you’re great at what you do — not because you’re great a running a business or building a brand. You hit the ground running, you’ve been working hard, and you’ve more than likely been flying by the seat of your pants!
Now is the time to:
- Get some support so you’re not always stuck in the “daily doing” of your business
- Evaluate everything you are doing and see what you can delegate and outsource
- Review your marketing strategies to see what’s working and what’s not — and course correct where needed
Now Is The Time To Start Building Your Brand
If you’re wondering why others seem to be experiencing more success than you without working as hard as you, I have the answer. They know their “one thing” — They have a brand.
When you know your “one thing” — the thing that makes your brilliant, that is your genius, that makes you unique and different, that provides value to your clients — you can create a powerful, personal, profitable brand, and a brand, changes the game completely.
When you have a brand, you have clarity about who you serve, what you do, how you’re different, and why you’re the best choice. This clarity makes your marketing and your branding (the strategy of building a brand) easier because you know exactly what you’re marketing. All of your efforts can work together to build one rock solid brand.
Plus, your audience will have more clarity about who you serve, what you do, how you’re different, and why you’re the best choice too! That means they can more quickly identify themselves as an ideal client or identify friends and contacts they can refer to you.
If you don’t yet know your “one thing” or you’ve been hesitant to pick just one thing, I urge you to take some time to figure it out — ask clients, as friends, ask peers, ask strategic partners, and look inside yourself.
Identify the one thing you want to be known for, the one thing you want to build a reputation around, the one thing you want everyone to think of you for.
Then make a decision, and go with it — and you’ll be on your way to building a powerful, personal, profitable brand.
