The American Advertising Federation of North Dakota, one of more than 200 local AAF clubs, hosted the biennial AAF District 8 Conference for the first time since the 1980s this past week. The official Far North Conference — inspired by the bright lights and big ideas brought attendees together to experience big ideas in a small environment to foster learning, sharing and making new connections. It was held in Fargo at the Ecce Art Gallery and featured one local speaker and four national speakers, including Bourn Creative’s founding partner, Jennifer Bourn.
The event kicked off Thursday evening with the Cropped graphic design competition, where designers faced off in a live, head-to-head, judged competition while attendees watched them create finished (and funny) designs using specific provided assets while snacking, networking, and enjoying light beverages.
Friday saw a full day curriculum designed to recharge passions for all things advertising that was delivered by five speakers:
- John T. Meyer, CEO and Cofounder at Lemonly
- Von Glitschka, Creative Director at Glitschka Studios
- Jennifer Bourn, Founding Partner at Bourn Creative
- Chris Lema, CEO at Beyond Good
- Denise Kolpack, SVP Brand and Communication Strategy at Blue Cross Blue Shield ND
The 8th District of the American Advertising Federation is made up of Advertising Clubs throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Nationally, the AAF is the largest group of its kind, with grassroots membership of over 50,000 professionals.
