WordPress Resources No Website Owner Should Be Without

Free WordPress Training Resources

Brian and I LOVE WordPress, so much so that we only build WordPress websites … more specifically custom child themes for the Genesis framework.

Needless to say and we spend a lot of time researching, training, reading, testing, watching, asking, tweaking, and learning all about it so we can answer your questions and provide you with all the information we find!

While we’re here to answer your questions, we also know the crazy-smart guys and gals at Automattic who created (and continue to create) WordPress know way more than we do — well, because they created it!

So here’s a list of some awesome WordPress resources you may want to check out by the creators WordPress:

We know these resources are great to help you learn more about WordPress — And if you have a WordPress website, they should give you even more confidence in your website, because you know that an entire community of talented people are out there working to improve your website platform everyday.

Opinions, feedback, and thoughts:

  1. Jennifer, I’m a WP devotee as well. I didn’t know there was a wordpress.tv! Nice resource to know about. There is still a little bit of techie in me that wants to keep up with some of this stuff or at least be able to figure out what is going wrong.

For a while I was working a lot with the Builder theme (and child themes) from ithemes. I haven’t kept up with it lately. Did you ever use that? Why Genesis? Just curious what the differences are…

Thanks for the nice resource list.

Amy – Genesis is the essence of quality when it comes to WordPress. The framework is well-built, constantly updated, and is a great foundation for a search engine friendly site. And the fact that they are now owned by Copyblogger media helps too – you know they aren’t going to disappear anytime soon … like the theme companies that are really just a couple guys in a garage ;)

Plus, I think any web designer/developer needs to pick one framework to become an expert in, to know all the ins and outs, to know all the little tricks, hooks, and possibilities … instead of knowing a little about a lot of different frameworks. It not only makes you better at what you do, but faster, and more valuable.

  2. Jennifer,

This is great! Thank you for sharing –

You and Brian provide so much VALUE and KNOWLEDGE.

    Thank you!

  3. Thanks for this GREAT list Jen! I often have clients asking me about where they can learn about WordPress and have never had a comprehensive set of options to share. So I really appreciate this post. It’s important to keep up to date with what’s new with WP too, otherwise you may miss out on some great new features to help grow your business. Thanks for being so generous! :)

Thanks Sydni – When it comes to WordPress resources and how-to information, there is a lot of information out there … and a lot of it is crap. Just people regurgitating what someone else wrote, spoke about, etc. It’s important to have trusted resources to learn from that actually DO what they teach and write about, because those are the people that really understand it.
