Business owners, especially entrepreneurs are great at starting businesses, but very few are able to succeed in transforming their business into an extraordinary brand.

You know you need a logo, a website, a business card, a Facebook page, etc., but something is missing. You have all the right pieces in place, but they’re NOT producing the results you really want! Does this sound like you? The solution is to transform your business into a brand that will ensure your ideal clients not only know, like, and trust you, but see you as the ONLY choice; a brand that will support you in stepping up and serving in a much bigger way with confidence and ease.

In this presentation you’ll learn:

The biggest branding mistake entrepreneurs make that sabotages their success

What a brand really is and why it is so important

How to build a solid, stable foundation for your business that supports you

The one “works every time” sentence that your brand can’t do without

Three crucial things you must do to build a powerful personal brand online

Hope to see you there!

Last week I gave a presentation for the Social Media Club Sacramento at Drexel University on Blogging for Business – and it went great if I do say so myself! The facility was superb and offered all the technical bells and whistles you could ever need and the @SMCSac group was amazing.

But I have to confess, I was nervous. Not about actually giving the presentation, but about my approach to speaking and my attire. And before you laugh, I am totally serious about this.

You see, I’ve been chastised in the past and told that as a speaker you need to always dress up and be “fancy.” In fact, one person actually told me that as a female speaker I should always wear a suit, skirt, or dress. I’ve also been chastised by a peer business owner because they didn’t feel like I was corporate enough in my presentation. They thought I was too personal and too casual.

But guess what. I don’t care.

Do I care to look my best and wear what I feel comfortable and confident in? Yes. Do I care how I present myself when out and about “on business.” Of course. Do I care that I deliver fantastic content. Absolutely.

But I don’t care what the nay-sayers have to say about it. This has been a big lesson I’m learning as my business continues to grow and flourish. We all as entrepreneurs and business owners need to surround ourselves with those who support us and cheer for us to succeed, and we politely need to keep out those who want to tear us down.

I don’t get invited to speak at events and on teleclasses and webinars because of my attire (although I do recommend doing your research so you make sure you are dressed appropriately!) and I don’t want to give formal, boring presentations that remind me of the painful meetings I had to sit through in my corporate days. I’m pretty sure no one else wants to listen to that either.

What I want to share with you is that the day I stopped trying to “do it their way” and started “doing it my way” everything changed.

Companies invite me to speak because of my passion and the energy I infuse into my presentations, they invite me to speak because I can break down complicated topics and make them really simple and easy to understand, and they invite me to speak because I’m entertaining and sassy… They invite me to speak because I am me.

So don’t ever stifle who you are and the passion you have for what you do just because someone else thinks you should do it differently. Be yourself.

Always be yourself and do it your way and do it with courage and confidence. Those who are meant to be in your tribe will find you, love you, support you, and buy from you because they appreciate who you are, what you stand for, and what you have to offer.

Have you learned a similar lesson? I’d love to hear about it!

This month I was the featured speaker at the Sacramento Speakers Network Meetup, speaking on the topic of search engine optimization (SEO. The topic was a huge one to cover in a short amount of time, and challenging because the audience is made up of complete SEO novices and SEO experts alike. So I narrowed it down to the top three things that can make a big difference that most websites completely forget or don’t include in their optimization efforts.

On October 30, 2009 at 12:00 pm PST, I’ll be the featured guest on a teleseminar for The Corporate Fugitive. I’ll be interviewed by Chief Corporate Fugitive, Sherri Garrity about why working with a professional designer is important for your business, how a designer can help you business, and how to find the right designer to help you get the results you want. www.corporatefugitive.com.

On November 10, 2009 at 11:00 am PST, I’ll be the featured guest on a teleseminar by the Practice Building Institute. I’ll be discussing Effortless Ezines to Build Your Practice & Increase Client Retention. www.practicebuildinginstitute.com

Speaking and teaching is a huge passion of mine (Did you know that I taught upper division corporate identity design at Sacramento State University for a while?) and I absolutely love sharing information and teaching entrepreneurs more and better ways to market their business and build their brand online without breaking the bank!

So today I would like to ask a favor of you.

I am looking for more opportunities to speak to groups of entrepreneurs and business owners across the country (or out if it works in my schedule). Speaking engagements may be live at a meeting, networking event, workshop, or conference, or by phone or web on teleseminars and webinars. They may be paid, or unpaid – either way, I just want to help as many entrepreneurs as I can learn how to use the Internet to grow and support their business.

If you have a business, group, association, or organization that you think may benefit from my expertise, I would greatly appreciate a referral!
