Growing up is hard to do! Or at least that is always what I heard when I was growing up. What I didn’t realize when I started my business is that it grows up too! And growing a business is hard to do!
As I grew up, from child to teen, from teen to young adult, and from young adult to mature adult (am I a mature adult – OMG!), I changed. My outlook and approach to life changed. How I dealt with challenges changed. My dreams and goals changed.
Isn’t this true with our businesses too? I know my vision for Bourn Creative today is drastically different from my vision at the start of my solopreneur journey. My business has grown in some areas more than others and my focus has changed as I pursue my passions and dreams.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I am always talking about the evolution of a business and how we go through growth spurts and radical changes. As our businesses develop we evolve and it’s critical to ensure that we are always checking in. Andrea – I love those suggestions! Thank you for your comment! They are very powerful questions to ask especially with the movement toward pure authenticity and transparency online. Many times entrepreneurs get stuck in a rut of doing the day to day tasks in their business and realize too late that they have been moving in the wrong direction that doesn’t serve their true purpose, or not moving forward at all. I love the last one especially – as sometimes I need that check in with myself to make sure I am on track and actually being the person I want to be, and taking action to keep me on that path.
