I hope you enjoyed a great week – we sure did! Not only did we open enrollment for our 4-Week Brand Building Virtual Boot Camp, but we’re also celebrating Carter’s 5th birthday!
I quit my job and officially turned my “freelance side work” into a full time business. I founded Bourn Creative when I was two months pregnant with Carter so I could be home with both of my kids (Natalie had just turned 2), spend more time with my family, and create the lifestyle I wanted.
Last weekend we celebrated Carter’s birthday at Wacky Tacky (that’s where we took this picture) with all of his preschool friends and today, as I am getting ready for Carter’s family party, I am reminded of how much has changed over the last six years.
The journey of starting and building Bourn Creative didn’t exactly go the way I planned it out in my head. I rode some big roller coasters – one named income, one named emotions, one named relationships, one named schedule, etc.
Today I’m not just celebrating Carter turning 5, I am celebrating the fact that almost six years ago I made a scary decision to start my own business and create a better life for my family. And today as I look back, it wasn’t pretty at times, but I have done just that.
I vividly remember a conversation Brian and I had when Bourn Creative was brand new. We chose not to send either of our kids to day care and sometimes working from home was really difficult. At the time, we agreed that:
“This decision is about the kids, so we can be there more for them. Until Carter’s in kindergarten, we’ll focus on getting the business stable, building a strong foundation for growth, creating meaningful relationships, and creating a consistent income. Then, when both kids are in school every day, we’ll be free to take the business anywhere we want.”
Now, Carter is getting ready to enter Kindergarten and we have successfully created a brand that is taking on a life of its own. We have successfully transformed Bourn Creative as a business into a brand that is attracting the perfect clients, creating new opportunities, and supporting a fabulous lifestyle for my family.
But, while your brand creates the appeal and attraction, building personal relationships and getting the word out is still what brings in the clients and customers.
Does your brand consistently deliver perfect clients, attract new opportunities, generate referrals, reduce stress, and make you money?
If you answered no to just one of those questions, I highly recommend enrolling in our 4-Week Brand Building Virtual Boot Camp to learn how to review, rethink, revamp, and refine your brand.
